The African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) and the Africa Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ANAPRI) have entered a collaborative partnership to advance agricultural productivity and sustainability in Africa. ANAPRI and AFAP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 5, 2024, during the Inaugural African Hub Agro-Dealer Development Conference held in Kigali, Rwanda.

By combining AFAP’s expertise in agribusiness and fertilizer value chain with ANAPRI’s research and policy analysis capabilities, this partnership seeks to address crucial issues in agriculture and food systems across the continent. The partnership will utilize data from AFAP’s private sector and ANAPRI’s analytical capabilities to inform decision-making processes regarding value chain development and promote more efficient agricultural practices. By integrating advanced analytics and insights from the private sector, sustainable growth and innovation in the agricultural sector can be achieved.

The partnership between AFAP and ANAPRI marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Action Plan, as committed at the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, from May 7th to 9th, 2024. By leveraging AFAP and ANAPRI’s strengths and collaborating closely, the Institutions will have a lasting impact on Africa’s agricultural landscape by helping to enhance fertilizer distribution, soil health, as well as overall productivity and sustainability of African agriculture. The partnership is dedicated to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation.
