In an era of global challenges and crises, the significance of sustainable agri-food systems has become increasingly evident. In response to the urgent issues confronting Africa’s agriculture sector, the Africa Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ANAPRI) is convening a crucial webinar in partnership with the Alliance for Commodity Trade in Eastern and Southern Africa (ACTESA), a specialized agency operating under the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Food Security Policy Research, Capacity, and Influence (PRCI). The webinar, titled “Opportunities for inclusive and sustainable agri-food systems: Bridging gaps in fertilizer and soil health policies for a world in crisis,” aims to shed light on critical aspects of agricultural development on the African continent.
The Regional Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ReNAPRI) recently hosted a thought-provoking side event during the Africa Food System Forum (AGRF), titled “Policy Prioritization through Value-Chain Analysis: Public-Private Partnerships in Policymaking, Implementation, Competitiveness, and Investment.” This engaging event brought together experts from various fields to discuss a critical aspect of African agriculture: Policy Prioritization through Value-Chain Analysis (PPVC).
Imagine life as a flowing river, with progress as the current propelling us ahead. Stagnation acts like a dam, hindering our potential and blocking the path for others. Therefore, it’s crucial to keep moving forward, not only to unlock our own potential but also to pave the way for others. This concept embodies the essence of “Ubuyantanshi”, a Zambian term representing forward movement and progress.
From Tuesday, August 22nd, to Thursday, August 24th, 2023, distinguished participants including Board Members, Secretariat Staff, and Principal Investigators from the Africa Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ANAPRI, commonly known as ReNAPRI) will assemble at the Ciela Resort and Spa, situated in the picturesque Bonanza Golf Estate of Lusaka, Zambia. This special retreat has been meticulously designed to serve as a pivotal occasion for strategic planning, collaborative knowledge exchange, and the cultivation of meaningful connections among esteemed stakeholders.
ANAPRI has achieved another remarkable feat. The organization has been officially selected to be a member of the Coordination Committee for the proposed Southern African Development Community (SADC) Think Tank Network. This recognition is a testament to ANAPRI’s commitment and dedication to fostering collaboration and excellence in knowledge mobilization, research and policy analysis in the continent.
The wheels are set motion as ANAPRI, the Africa Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes, gears up to co-host the highly anticipated Africa Think Tank Summit in Lusaka, Zambia. This prestigious event, organized under the auspices of the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), a specialized agency of the African Union (AU), promises to be a momentous occasion for Africa’s development landscape.
In the quest for a sustainable future, it is important to note that collaboration and partnerships are crucial. One such powerful alliance is the partnership between the Africa Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ANAPRI) and the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment (MGEE). This partnership is designed to implement the Comprehensive Africa Climate Change Initiative (CACCI) in Zambia to generate a proof of concept that would then be upscaled in the African continent, in the quest for sustainable development.
The Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) General Assembly, Africa Agribusiness and Science Week (AASW), and Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) General Assembly are major events in the field of agricultural research and development in Africa.
