ReNAPRI Technical Chair, Lulama Ndibongo Traub, attended events surrounding Michigan State University’s (MSU) Spring 2018 advanced degree ceremony. During the ceremony, MSU bestowed an Honorary Doctorate of Agriculture to Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group and 2017 World Food Prize Laureate. MSU awarded the Honorary Doctorate in recognition of Dr. Adesina’s work to improve African agriculture and the overall well-being of the people of the continent.
During Ndibongo-Traub’s visit, she had an opportunity to meet with Dr. Adesina regarding ReNAPRI’s work in Africa, alongside fellow ReNAPRI Board Members and MSU faculty (pictured below): Prof. Richard Mkandawire, Director of Africa Secretariat, AAP-MSU and Malawi National Planning Commission Chairperson; and Dr. Thom Jayne, MSU’s University Foundation Professor of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics.
Dr. Adesina was jointly nominated by MSU’s Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics (AFRE) and MSU’s Alliance for African Partnership (AAP). ReNAPRI is a partner with AAP-MSU, collaborating in projects towards policy outreach, journal article publications, and policy briefs.
