The Africa Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) Summit took place from 6th to 10th September 2021, hosted by the Government of Kenya. The Conference brought together a number of stakeholders including Heads of States and Government, former heads of Governments, African institutions, regional and sub-regional organizations, the private sector, farmers, think tanks, development partners, philanthropies, the media, women, and youth to discuss a range of issues concerning agriculture and food systems resilience in Africa.
ReNAPRI partnered with AGRA and the African Development Bank (AfDB) to generate the Africa Agriculture Status Report 2021 (AASR21) which was launched during the AGRF Summit on 6th September 2021. ReNAPRI experts on this assignment included Prof Thom Jayne (MSU), Ms Lulama Traub (BFAP), Dr. John Olwande (Tegemeo), Dr. Brian Mulenga(IAPRI), Dr. Mary Lubungu(IAPRI), Dr. Lilian Kirimi(Tegemeo) and Dr. Zena Mpenda (SUA).
In addition, Ms Lulama Traub (ReNAPRI Technical Chair) and Dr. John Olwande participated in a panel on Agricultural Transformation for Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems.
Dr. Nalishebo Meebelo, Senior Program Coordinator at the Secretariat of ReNAPRI, moderated a session on ‘Building Strong Food Systems through Inclusive Data Sharing’ which included the Secretary General of COMESA, Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry Ghana, and representatives from FAO, AfDB, FCDO an AfCFTA Secretariat.
