Agricultural Transformation

Rising rural population, evidence of an emergent investor farmer, and structural changes in labour markets are simultaneously shifting the landscape of agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa. The impact of these trends on the emergent pathways of adaptation brings into question the agricultural transformation process that could unfold on the continent. ReNAPRI researches, monitors, reports and makes policy recommendations on Southern and Eastern Africa’s progress towards broad-based and inclusive agricultural transformation. Publications within this research theme are grouped in the following topical categories: Land Policy & Farm Land distribution pattern; Africa’s Evolving Agriculture Systems; Youth, Gender & Employment; Entry Points for Enhancing Agriculture Productivity; and Analysis of Public Expenditures to Agriculture.
